I used to work oilfield in Lewisville and Magnolia years ago....I didn't realize how close I was to the Diamond Crater.  I passed by the Exit a couple of years ago on I-30....

I'll have to take my kids up there and dig around....

Ed-

This is a lot tougher than one thinks. Lovie and I happened to be in the area one summer and we decided to give this a shot.

First of all, that place is always packed with patrons in search of precious stones. Although they are kind enough to rent tools to you in order to excavate the area.

It was fun for the little time that we were there, however we were there in August. Needless to say it was extremely hot out and there is no shade.

I think that if you are able to go in the spring when its mild, you would have a great time.
