I still can't decide between these scopes. I know I want a 30mm tube and a 50mm objective.

if I had all three of these scopes side by side, could I tell a difference? are they all equally sharp?

it's for a 30.06

someone told me that the Z6 was an inferior design, something about how the glasses line up... I dunno...

thanks,

Jack

PS I'm trying to buy the best quality scope for the money... I originally wanted the Z6... but is it worth 400 more? If so, I'll get it...

thanks again

I have a Z6 on a Tikka T3 in 30-06.  It's very nice and versatile.  I haven't heard anything about the Z6 being an inferior design...

Illuminated reticle for what on a .30-06?  I guess that is the question.  Do you have a $400 need (based on utility cost) that makes the Z6 the product you want.  I don't hunt in any state where the legal hunting hours are outside of my normal scopes light gathering capability, just my take.

I don't have a Z6, but I have several PH/PVs.  For the price you can find the PH/PVs now, I'd be hard pressed to get the Z6 unless I just HAD to have it.  PH/PV-more affordable glass right now.

Not sure why you don't have Diavari on that list.  When I was in the same boat, looking for nice glass for my custom 300WM, I really, really liked the Diavari.  I ran it side-by-side with a Z6 and liked the Diavari more.  DOn't get me wrong, the Z6 is fantastic, but I thought the Diavari was fantastic-er.

None of the scopes you have on the list are slouches (I have an AH and love it, great glass), but it's hard to beat the Victory-series for wide sweat-spot, large FOV, and low light performance.

so okay, now it's between the Diavari and Z6... so the question is illuminated or not?

Do you "need"lluminated?

Keep in mind, either will give you enough visibility to see game during normal hunting hours (usually.)  Illumination is great for night hunting.

As much as I like the Z6 -- and I really do -- between the Diavari and Z6, I would get the Diavari because it's about $400 less expensive for a variable with the same top end power and objective diameter.  Both are about as good as it gets, so neither will really blow the other away.  If you are wanting an illuminated scope, the Z6i has a nicer illumination system, IMO.  Lit reticles are nice if you hunt at night (hogs, predators) or you want that little bit of extra contrast at first and last light, but scopes at this level will have superb light transmission anyway.

I think I'm gonna go with the Z6i 2-12x50... I just have to decide which arm and leg to sell...

thanks for all who have helped...
