Appoligize for redundancy in advance as I also posted this question in varmint scope forum.....
I have been to basspro, cabela's, scheels and locals.....can't find a Zeiss Conquest with a mil dot reticle to look through, which is kind of concerning to begin with. Pictures on Zeiss's website and forums aren't clear enough for me to picture it...most of inner circle only. At any rate....do any of you have a link or pdf or other attachment of their mil dot reticle to help. Coyote gun will cross over to Prarie Dog's, and I really want to make double sure I don't make a mistake by getting away from standard crosshairs/Z-plex. I looked through a mil dot scope (forgot the brand- seemed like i was looking through a submarine parascope...I am sure all the other lines are very useful to someone who could use it...but not for my eye) that had so many dots and lines in the middle that I know i wouldn't like it.....but the Zeiss's looks less "cluttered"...but again is hard to tell from the pictures I can find.
Any ideas/links/pictures looking through a zeiss conquest mil dot scope. I have decided on the conquest scope (4.5-14 50mm))....just down to choosing reticle. I guess at the end of the day if I don't like it I can pay 125+ and get reticle changed, but would rather have that dough in my pocket and make the right choice on the way in.
Thanks again to all!!! |

Hi, seems to me that it's just a basic MilDot reticle with oval dots, IIRC. It's looks like from the Zeiss site now, that they don't offer the MilDot any longer and it looks like they may have nixed the target turrets, too.
Their site has always been user UNfriendly if you ask me and tonight it's even worse, so take my comments with a lump of rock salt.
I bought the 4.5-14x50 Conquest and just went with the Z Plex, as rangefinding isn't an absolute necessity for me.
If you don't like the clutter of a basic MilDot, then get the Z Plex and be happy. I don't recall there being anything out of the ordinary with the Zeiss MilDot.
You should see the P4 on my SB scope, if you want to see a busy reticle. I get vertigo and keel over sometimes.
Take care, Chris |

There is a pic on this auction, they told me that it was taken with the camera looking through the scope. I wish scope manufacturers would do this with all of their reticles, the little 1" drawings are crap.

Hello, like I said, it looks just lik a standard mildot to me. I did my research over a year and a half ago and I think that the best price I came across for that scope with mildot was maybe $730 or so. I think the ZPlex was right at $690-$710, as the mildot commands a $30, or so, premium. At $586, that's a great deal, but of course, it will go higher.
I think with the clarity of the Conquest glass, you can feel safe in going with the higher power scope. Better to have the extra mag and not need it than to want it and not have it, is my thought. Bigger is better.
