$300 is a low price point for a 4-12X50. I have not been impressed with the Terra scopes, but I'm not usually impressed by any $300 scope. I like the view better through the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3X9,though it was meant for 223 caliber. It would however work on any caliber, you just wouldn't be able to use the CDS set up for 223. Are you set on a 4-12?  You can usually buy a better scope in the 3X9 power range for less money than in the 4X12 range. I'll give it some thought and see if I can think of anything in the 4X12 range.

Not set on anything yet. But I'd like to have more than a 9x though as I'd like to shoot 400 yrds and feel good about it.

Not trying to be rude, just trying to establish some useful background... do you have a visual impairment?  9x is way sufficient for 400 yards.

For your price point I'd look at this.  I personally like this better than the Terra.

If eye relief is not an issue you might stretch your budget to this.

Better yet just blow your budget all to he!! and get this.

The vortex diamondback scopes are a good fit for your use and budget.   I've used several and they are completely serviceable and backed by a lifetime warranty should you ever have issues.
