These can be found pretty cheap ($850) nowadays. I have read a few reviews online, and it appears that the optics are top quality (especially considering the price) if you get a peach product. Seems to be some QA/QC problems with the Chinese manufacturer. My question is this:
How do I know if I got a peach or a lemon? Are there some simple, layman tests that I can perform? Thanks in advance, Jake

Jake,
You can star test the scope, as you would an astronomical refractor. This is the authoritative manual: http://www.amazon.com/Star-Testing-Astronomical-Telescopes-Evaluation/dp/0943396905 |

So I finally picked up an Zen-Ray ED2 spotter. Just curious if anyone could give me a couple simple tests to see if it is a peach or a lemon?
The start testing book (manual) is out of stock, and I am not sure that I am well versed enough in optics to grasp the material anyway.
